Bournemouth Sports Football Club (BSFC)
The current Bournemouth Sports FC was formed in 2010 from a merger between Cannon Colts Youth FC and Mercury FC. BSFC is a Charter Standard Development Club. This prestigious kite mark is only awarded to ‘clubs who provide a high quality football experience, are well run, sustainable, and place child protection, quality coaching and safety paramount.’ (The Football Association)
The Youth Section
The Youth Section has teams from U7 to U16, including a girls team at U14. Teams play in the Bournemouth Youth Football League (BYFL) and the Dorset league at weekends and train on various days of the week at Chapel Gate.
Our aim is to develop footballing skills in a fun and safe environment. All of our coaches are FA qualified and are supported to enrol on higher level coaching and training courses to ensure the children receive the best possible coaching.
The Ladies Section
Bournemouth Sports Ladies FC was formed in May 2013 to provide greater opportunity for women in the Bournemouth area to become involved in ladies football in a supportive and co-operative environment. Following 2 promotions in 3 seasons the team currently plays in Hampshire Ladies Division 1.
Training is on the astroturf at Chapel Gate on Wednesdays at 7:30pm. Matches are played on Sunday afternoons.
The Mens Section
The Mens Section currently has 3 teams playing in the Bournemouth Football League (BFL) – 2 on Saturday afternoons in the Premier Division and Division 1, and a more social team (Bournemouth Sports Mercury) playing on Sunday mornings. Apart from league football our teams enter 3 cup competitions, including the Hampshire Cup. We have enjoyed success in recent years, winning 4 cup competitions and the local league. We think it is important to support our local leagues but, given continuing progress and player demand, we are considering entering our first team into higher standard competition.
Our Saturday squad largely comprises players who have represented the club at youth level and those who have joined to enjoy the improving quality of the pitches and facilities, including training under floodlights on the astroturf and enjoying the bar and food provided in the club house.
